ABOUT COACH JO JO

“Be Transformed By The Renewing of Your Mind”

Schools bring in Coach Jo-Jo because he has multiple levels of experience working in an educational setting. Currently Coach Jo-Jo is an adjunct professor at Kent State University, Founder of Ladies First Akron Inc and dynamic school presenter. In all of these roles he is able to help people turn theory into practice.

In 2010 Coach Jo-Jo became a certified Behavioral Intervention Specialist and started teaching students diagnosed with emotional disabilities. During his time teaching students, the graduation rate improved by 25% over 9 years. He also served as a Restorative Practices Coordinator where he was able to help reduce suspension rates over a 3 year period. Before becoming a certified teacher he was a Bullying Prevention Specialist! These diverse educational experiences have led him to become the change agent that he is today! Coach Jo-Jo is excited to come and serve your students and staff! His positive energy is what your school needs.
Because of a limited male presence in the school setting Coach Jo-Jo is often called upon to boost school climate and culture. This led him to collaborate with schools world wide because hearing a male perspective helps students and teachers grow. He seeks out opportunities to model the tools needed to be successful in any school district. Now you can catch him in a gym at a school or in a neighborhood near you speaking on bullying, character development and leadership.

Coach Jo-Jo is a family man, a title that helps him see the world through the lens of others. He and his wife Candace have been married for 13 years and currently reside in Akron, OH. They are both heavily involved in several community initiatives throughout the area.

They have 3 Daughters with the two youngest becoming published authors at 9 and 7 years old respectively. Coach Jo-Jo believes that being an example to young people is the best way to show them the path to success.
